Thinking about some applications for Nostr. It should be fairly easy to devise a protocol for playing poker over Nostr.
With a trusted dealer, people join by zapping the dealer. The dealer deals cards using gift-wrapped messages. The cards on the table are open notes. Bets are made through new zaps to the dealer. Special messages could be used for folding or going all-in.
Maybe cards are gift-wrapped to a random new key, and the dealer sends the key to the player so they can unwrap it. When the player plays their hand, they publish the key, allowing everyone to unwrap the cards.
Without a trusted dealer, this might be more challenging. Bets would need to be sent to some kind of contract that becomes accessible only to the winner. It might be doable with onchain contracts, but I’m not sure how to implement it with zaps or Lightning. Maybe it’s possible with Cashu?
Has anyone already thought about or implemented something similar?
