npub1rv2szq045qcwu259xch3mqpjhea4ejycag7upd2sqqy8qmuhkcmq9gpvwv (npub1rv2…pvwv) it's crazy that games from 20 years ago have a more stable picture than current gen games do. There's no stuttering, no weird shimmering and ghosting, reflections aren't noticeably incorrect and shifting all the time, transparency is actual transparent instead of dithered... I could go on. Even 10 years ago none of this was really an issue. Sure, models and textures aren't of objectively higher quality, but there's nothing in the game that is just constantly ripping you out of the immersion. I actually end up needing to turn screen space reflection off in a lot of games because of how weird it can look. I tend to not use raytracing because of how things can get smeared with it on (which is only just now starting to be kind of fixed).

And of course, not only is the image significantly harder to look at, the games run like shit too and there isn't nearly as much artistry as there used to be. Those old games were running on systems that were using under 1gb of slow RAM.
