I did know a dental hygienist who lost her four limbs after a rural hospital failed to catch sepsis. It turns out perhaps from an infection usually found in mouths. I always think how smart some hygienists are these days trying to prevent spittle on them during procedures. This was in the before times so I know these things happen, but do think they are more common.
