The right yellow light on each of those two looped ports is indicating that the hub has partitioned them for "excessive collisions or jabber conditions". Curious, did they immediately light up as soon as you looped them, or did it take them seeing some traffic from your laptop (like some arp or dhcp) to create the broadcast storm that then made the hub partition the ports?
