Dynomyrmex gigas are among the largest ants in the world. With powerful mandibles an all out war between colonies could result in so many ants simply chopped in half that neither colony survives. So the major workers resolve territory conflicts with a ritualized contest that involves seeing who can seem taller. The ants box, legs extended until one or the other yields and this adjusts the territory of the colony with the more intimidating ant.
