The problem, IMO, isn’t that services have costs—that’s just life. The problem is that the services and costs are compulsory.
So when I say 0% tax, I mean no fees you didn’t agree to. A good start would be eliminating the exit tax for born citizens. The idea that you have to pay to leave, and if you don’t, you pay income tax forever, makes the national boundary one gigantic plantation.
In a pure anarcho-capitalist setup, one could imagine some forms of fees that look similar to current taxes. For example, a road service provider might charge gas stations extra for access to the road. The gas station passes that on to their customers in the form of a gas-tax-like fee. Those fees, at arms length, pay for road maintenance, much like gas taxes do now.
Will all this happen in our lifetimes? Maybe. Although the current direction is towards more socialism (strong national borders, etc.) Maybe after the next pendulum swing.
