In your opinion, how does Bitcoin avoid becoming a speculative and thus morally dubious asset?
It would seem to me that, if one intends to acquire Bitcoin now so as to use it as a legitimate money, either now or in the future, this is no different from changing coin on arriving in a foreign country, and is thus morally legitimate.
However, a thread among Bitcoin holders seems to be a hope that by purchasing Bitcoin early, they will arrive at vast wealth for little to no effort when the rest of the world finally catches up.
To put it briefly, if Bitcoin is never used as a money, how can it be anything but a speculative asset?
