Letting Go of Fearful Attachment

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.” (Matthew 6:19)

Despite our best intentions, we often measure security by how much we can lock away. Banks, vaults, and physical property might keep our savings safe, but they can also reflect a deeper fear—the fear of losing what we’ve worked for. This concern slowly narrows our vision: we become tunnel-visioned, watching over our hoard and blind to the wonders God has placed around us.

Embracing Bitcoin has been an unexpected invitation to release some of that fearful attachment. While Bitcoin does carry risk and demands responsible stewardship, it also offers a radical sense of freedom: no institution can unilaterally freeze or confiscate it. This realization—paired with Christ’s assurance that we ultimately rely on Him for every need—has helped me adopt a more open-handed stance toward my wealth.

This shift isn’t about glorifying money. Instead, it’s about the joy of knowing that I’m not imprisoning my resources in one location or relinquishing control to others. My eyes are less fixed on gates and locks, and more open to God’s grand design. I find myself more present in every moment, freed from the burden of safeguarding my earthly “treasures.”
