In 1883 the protagonist is viewed with suspicion for having been a Confederate. Especially since a co-star was a Union captain and travels with a black man.
It is odd that later in the sequel, Yellowstone, the protagonist is viewed with suspicion for being a Republican.
Are there any gaps between the two stories?
