Lengthy blogpost.
I had PTSD from being wantonly abused by my mother. I am at the point where my symptoms are basically absent, due to consistent and repeated self-application of EMDR through VR games over the last two years - most of this recovery coming over the last 4-8 months.
This post is not really about that, but it's the backdrop.
I have found that a substantial portion of my IRL friendships over the last decade have been built off of shared trauma. Because my trauma is mostly healed, I am having serious problems properly relating to many of my old friends.
I've slowly been losing those types of friends, and I think I'm about to stop being friends with the last one. It feels like I'm walking out of a giant group therapy session for the last time, it's a little liberating.
