It is becoming increasingly clear that the misalignment between OpenAI’s founding mission and their widely lauded research demo cum product cannot be reconciled. While the personalities involved are a huge factor in some respect there’s a larger, oft-repeated, story here of money corrupting research and demanding returns beyond the dreams of avarice.
