Something I’ve always wondered. Say you’ve got a decent jazz band going in Nebraska, and you’ve come up with the money to get an A-list guest star on your self-produced CD. How much would it cost to get somebody like Randy Brecker, Bob Mintzer, or Chris Potter to join? For a live studio gig, do you pay their airfare, hotel, and expenses? Do they get a cut of profits on top of their fee? Etc.
