At the 2000 VMAs, Britney rang this century in with “Oops!… I Did It Again.” This one is a great showcase for another aspect of Britney’s style: She knows the choreography so reflexively that she can devote all her mental resources to essentially method acting that she's just some girl feeling a big emotion. This illusion, that the moves are just occurring to her in the moment, makes the she backup dancers seem like they’re an extension of her. Like she’s subconsciously conducting them.
