Hey guys! A quick #asknostr question and a bit of a story.
Not long ago I met a Congolese kid on #Telegram, from an impoverished part of the DRCongo. I've been wanting to help him and send him money for a while.
He first offered to use #WesternUnion, or directly a #SWIFT transfer, but I have serious privacy concerns regarding both of those methods. Plus, obscene fees.
I offered to send him #crypto (preferably #Monero, but #Bitcoin or #zaps would work as well), but he forwarded two messages (two different wallet addresses) from accounts easily recognizable as international crypto #scammer accounts. Could be that this kiddo works for them or, more likely based on his behaviour, that they are trying to take advantage of him.
Keeping in mind all of this, I'm trying to setup something for him so HE can receive crypto (any of the aforementioned currencies), and so he can easily and relatively cheaply convert that crypto into either #USD or #CDF (Congolese Francs) in his Fnbank (FirstBank, I believe) account. He has access to an #Android smartphone - receiving crypto is the easy part.
I'm a bit of a newcomer to this level of involvement with the crypto world, so I'd love some help on how to set this up.
Tagging Max DeMarco (npub1lel…kvyz) as your African Revolution documentary partially inspired me (plus, you might have some useful contacts for this).
Thanks everyone!
