Anyone who seriously believes that Canada is going to be annexed by the US is fucking retarded. The US would become the world pariah, this would cause complete dissolution of NATO and maybe would cause NATO countries to team up and come to Canada's aid. This wouldn't happen peacefully, many Canadians, myself included, would fight even if it was futile. And during this time of chaos, you can bet the Russia's, Iran and Chinas of the world would take advantage of the chaos to fuck the US. That would likely cause a WWIII. It's way less risky and easier to let Canada be a sovereign nation and continue the existing relationship.
