Because I was curious, I did the math on how much power you could get by burning the same fuel that the train would take for their goal 1.9GWh, 125 mile trip — only about 42MWh, which a lot better than I was expecting, and also implies that they should be in good shape to "just" connect the battery up to the electric half of diesel-electric locomotives, once they get that far.
