One really weird thing about our economic culture right now is so much of the rhetoric surrounding it focuses on the primacy of shareholder interest, but members of boards of directors who are supposed to represent shareholders often pay next to know attention and do very little actual work. They're frequently chosen on the basis of celebrity name recognition and may have no ability to understand the business. And the whole system is incredibly corrupt. 🧵
