This reminds me of a passage in the Analects of Confucius, “吾日三省吾身。为人谋而不忠平？与朋友交而不信平？传不习平？”. It means reflect on yourself three times a day: Did I try my best for others? Have I done what I said and be sincere to others? Have I practiced the knowledge I’ve learned?
