I ticked off a follower on Twitter once when he posted that tired argument for the Oxford comma: "I want to thank my parents, Ayn Rand and God." Yes, the sentence is misleading, but an extra comma doesn't fix it for someone who isn't actually reading it. So I told him it was badly written and should be two sentences: "I want to thank my parents and Ayn Rand. I also want to thank God." Problem solved for everyone.
