I find the #Rust pattern of tests in the same file as the code being tested pretty maddening. I prefer a separate file so I can switch between the tests I'm writing and the code it tests. When theyr'e in the same file I have to scroll up and down constantly.
I don't like to use a split screen view of them because it's too cramped. Just let me use two files, one in each tab!
