Arguably, political conventions no longer serve any real purpose. They’re a three day, televised rally, and the parties certainly enjoy the free air. I have a hard time believing anyone watches them in an effort to decide who to vote for. It’s just preaching to the choir. Like a rally. Casual voters, which is most of America, do not show up to political events. Not even locally.
No decisions are made at conventions, unlike in the past. I wonder if there’s not a better way.
