We are dealing with the same thing, having been born on military bases outside the United States. Beloved went to renew his DL, and they refused because his birth certificate is from Germany. So, we're having to go through the state department to get the documents so he can get a DL and his passport with the realid nonsense.
And the hoops I had to go through because I'd been married as a teenager, and took his last name briefly...for me to get my real ID, I had to travel to the courthouse where the divorce was finalized 30 years ago, because they could only hand notarized copies of the divorce to me...because reasons? In addition to birth certificates, baptism certificates, school transcripts...it was a ridiculous amount of stupid, just to get a all the government agencies to agree I'm who I've always been.

But yeah, I canceled trips, because suddenly military brats born on US bases to US service people aren't automatically citizens anymore. Thanks GOP!
