If you’re thinking about planting a sweet gum tree, maybe just don’t? The burrs are obnoxious and do not break down quickly enough to just leave (I had an entire section near one tree of half dissolved burrs that had built up over the years and were strangling anything that could grow there.) Not to mention, RIP your bare feet…
