The passion of youth is a powerful thing.
Everyone comes to Christ at different times and circumstances in their lives. I grew up in the church so my experience may be different from yours. I have seen the mountaintop highs, the deep valley lows, and everything in between. I have had friends come to Christ in their youth and now I have made new friends in my adult life. I have seen many things, but one thing that stands out in the midst of it all is the passion of youth.
If you have never witnessed this in person, then I encourage you to go to the youth service at your church for a while. Get to know the younger members of the church and be known by them. You will be blown away. As an adult, we tend to be more reserved and cautious. We have learned and been burned by many experiences along the way, but it is different for our youth. When they truly give themselves to God it is a thing of beauty. The depth of joy when they finally make that commitment, the heart felt praise during worship, the complete whole hearted devotion is unmistakable and inspiring.
How many adults do you see spontaneously get down on their knees during a worship service? How often do you see unabashed emotion on those around you? How often do you see people who are unreserved in their expression of devotion to God?
I remember being that youth. I remember how it felt.
I wish everyone always had that passion.
I wish I always had that passion.
It is powerful.
It is God moving...
Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!
"Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe." 1 Tim 4:12
