Getting ready to attend my father in laws wake. Forgot myself and accidentally blurted out an opinion in response to a conversation in the next room (a future family member.). Her talking to someone else: “They’re rescinding DEI initiatives, which…” (pause). Me: “…is a really good idea!!” Her: “so you think black people shouldn’t be able to get jobs?” Me: “That’s not what that means.” (They walk out of the house and cower on the porch; everything is suddenly high tension)
