A few weeks ago I needed a ride to the airport (in the US). I summoned a Lyft and began tracking my driver via the app.
At first, the car appeared to be heading towards my home. Then, it stopped, turned around, entered the freeway, and took a route 3 miles south. What?!!!
I canceled the ride and summoned another. The next Lyft driver arrived within 5 minutes.
On the way to airport, I mentioned what happened. Our Lyft driver told us similar situations have been happening lately to her. She gets called for a ride, then suddenly her phone screen goes blank and she is sent unexpectedly to another pick-up. No explanation from Lyft.
Lyft is routinely diverting drivers to alternate rides with no explanation to the drivers and no notice to the riders. We were trying to catch a plane FFS!
Lyft somehow thinks this strategy will be beneficial to the company. Doesn't seem like a winner to me.
Has anyone else experienced this?
