For a politician, there is no such thing as a protest or tactical vote
Every vote they get is, as far as they are concerned, an indication that that voter agrees with the entire manifesto, wants it implemented as is & has 100% confidence in the politician
If you voted for the least objectionable of all the candidates & disagreed with half their pledges, that's tough, once they're in office you're stuck with them for 5 years
Then you get to repeat the whole futile exercise again
