Last night we joined around 100 others to enjoy a doc movie called Maurice and I. It was a fundraising evening for evaluating the earthquake rating of a now disused picture theatre in Timaru, The Magestic. It's ownership is now under our local councils holding company and it is on the list of demolition. A group of concerned locals are exploring options to save it.
The Christchurch earthquake saw demolition on a massive scale. Their Town hall was destined for the same but saved by determination.
