I am still :ablobcatsweatsip: ing (nprofile…5dmj) I think it was true back in the 2000s, when new languages were springing up every few years that offered massive changes, improvements, or new technologies. We went from mainframes to remote terminals to client-server to cloud to mobile roughly at the pace of every 5-10 years.

But now tech is stagnant. Cloud stuck around, mobile hasn't meaningfully changed since 2007, Javascript resurrected from 1996 and ate the world. New languages are just remixes of other 3rd gen high level languages (and they all compile down to C).

I've done my share of OOP refactorings, but not recently. I don't know anyone who still holds architecture summits to select design patterns any more.
