i know it's more fun to think about what a nation state's well funded hacking team could get up to

but well, you can buy rootkits, you can buy accounts, and playing a long-con over a few months only requires patience

i think part of the reason we don't see hacks like this more often is that the risk/reward just isn't that great

it's noisy, it leaves a trail, and it's not easy to meaningfully target
