80% of chronic disease can be avoided with healthy eating, $1 out of $4 is spent on diabetics (90% preventable for TDM2), yet med schools don't teach nutrition.
The only Nutrition focused course in Harvard Med course catalog is NCE522.0- Culinary Medicine and Nutrition. Focus is on cooking.
Our system is bad from both sides: bad eating leading to chronic disease (higher consumption) for which we pay exorbitant $ to treat.
Sooner you realize that the majority of doctors don't have a clue about nutrition, the better off you'll be. Ask for the source of their info. If its a huge national org (AHA, ADA, etc) then you know they've outsourced their learning to huge orgs that have been wrong for 50 years.
