I think that this is true of "the west" as a whole as well, not that the US has moral authority but that the west does. Otherwise, why would anyone believe that what China has been doing to the Uighurs was somehow worse than what the Israelis have been doing to the Palestinians all along, or that Saudi Arabia is somehow less evil than North Korea?
