Although I'm critical of #Europe & the West's imperial #history, I confess that, as a Mideastern woman, not everything they did came with bad consequences for the locals. For instance, #Russia's victory against the Crimean Tatars led to the end of the Tatar slave trade. Crimean Tatars were known for enslaving Russian/Ukrainian & other East European women & selling them as sex slaves in Turkey.
America's war against the Barbary pirates also had positive consequences.
