It's helping me make my own personal "favorites of metal" list and giving me a bunch to listen to, I dig the categories because I can skip stuff I'm not gonna be into- I'm mostly into death, black or doom and very rarely thrash (never power, for example, or any of the early stuff save Sabbath and Motorhead).
