The only drugs I still do everyday are music and a little caffeine. I’m okay with that.
Nothing gets me to feel feelings like one of those songs that just hits in your soul. Fuck me I will chase that dragon until the day I die. Music is the only drug that gets better with usage, at least to some reasonable extent. It’s also the only drug that isn’t physiologically harmful.
One time I hadn’t smoked weed in a year, and I got completely lit one night off some fire weed I grew right before a long drive.
The Lynard Skynard song “Free Bird” came on halfway through my solo night drive, and by the end of that song I was literally crying because of how brilliant a masterpiece it truly was and how hard it hit.
I thought as it blared; humans, 500,000+ years into our species existence made the instruments to make those sounds, and made the machines to produce and record that song, and humans were wirelessly broadcasting that work of art 40 years later out in some random northern corner the world.
Everything humans have going on, the good and the bad, is extremely interesting. I’ll give us that. Our aggregate behavior probably nets out to solid 0 like almost everything does in time. But god damn what a ride, and music really adds to it all. (Yes I ate some Psilocybin earlier, glad I did).
