I think I just realized one reason why my stress level has been so elevated week: I have an MRI scheduled for tomorrow morning.
For the past six months (six months!) I've been having problems with my knee. It hurts to walk and stand, I walk with a limp most of the time, I have trouble sleeping because I can't get comfortable... that sort of problem.
I've been doing physical therapy, I've tried a variety of prescriptions to treat possible causes, I've taken any number of inconclusive tests. None of this has really helped, and none has given my doctor a clear diagnosis. My insurance has finally approved an MRI, and tomorrow I get the test that should show what's actually going on inside that damned joint.
So I'm even more anxious than usual. It's not the test I'm worried about, it's what comes next. The MRI will be a big step to learn if we say "this is the treatment" or "this is your life from now on."
