It's kind of part of the plan of flatpaks that they don't know anything about the rest of the system by default. Which is totally fair. But I explicitly want to allow an app to see a few others and communicate with them. And it seems that option just isn't there? Some DuckDuckGo searches and even a bit of googling didnt get me anywhere but maybe I was using the wrong search terms.
