I don't think we acknowledge how much "stranger danger" has to do with our loneliness epidemic, how much it has to do with our weird relationship with guns, the way news treats crime, and so many other things. I know intellectually how wrong it is, but the programming remains. The code is still there, overwritten but not permanently deleted.
