My first PC we got in middle school. I remember disabling the mouse in the autoexec.bat to have enough memory to play Doom ^_^.
But my first game was Quest for Glory 3, a fun little RPG. Then on to the King's Quests.
Doom changed the game and I didn't get Quake till much later because my parents weren't in to "upgrading the computer" so I could play games.
So I made Doom maps while I waited.
I did a ton of LAN parties in college till my friend and I stopped being invited because we destroyed everyone.
One time, my friend and I were walking around town and happened upon a table top gaming shop and we looked around and they showed us their LAN setup in the back. They let us play the new game, Unreal Tournament with one of their staff.
I had never played before and I was really thrown off by a secondary fire, so I was mostly just goofing around.
When the match was over, it was just the 3 of us playing and I didn't know who's screen name was who's, so I asked who the winner was and the staff member gave me this side eye and the other staff members had come in and were laughing.
I was the winner, but apparently they were trying to mess with me and my friend because that staff member was the winner of their last tournament, lol!
The other staff were laughing because we destroyed him, lol.
Such fun. The good ole days ^_^
