Ooh, that was close. Crisis averted. I finished the washing up, and as I was passing the loo heard an ominous gurgle. I tried a trial flushette, and saw the water rise in the bowl.
Out to check the septic tank, which seemed OK, but the main inlet pipe was backed up.
Fortunately I seem to have caught it in time and the blockage shifted easily. Soon all was flowing happily.
Amazing how pleasing that sight was, as the alternatives and possibilities were coursing through my mind
