If the sun vanished suddenly we would continue to feel its light for exactly as long as we feel its gravity. The speed of causality is the maximum speed by which events can propagate.
The fact that light moves that fast is because it's (basically) massless and so spends all of its movement budget in the space dimensions and thus doesn't really experience time. (I can explain more but I will need tediously many thought experiments and metaphors)
