A note to longterm Ledger and Trezor users.
Today, I made a concerning discovery with my Ledger Wallet – a popular choice (but one worth considering*) for storing Bitcoin. It seems that the display of my Ledger, which I purchased about six years ago, is becoming dimmer, suggesting that it might be on its last legs. This issue appears to be more prevalent in hardware wallets that have been used for a considerable length of time.
The same happened to a Trezor of mine after several more years of usage. The display went completely dark on that one, leaving me only with my backup seed.
It’s a reminder to stay vigilant about both the physical integrity, digital security and thorough backups of our keychain storage solutions.
tl;dr: Check your backups. See if your Ledger or Trezor still works.
