I picked up some beautiful ふきん ("fukin") tea towels, made from layers of cotton and rayon mosquito netting, as in the traditional technique from Nara. When you first get them, you have to use hot water to wash off the sweet potato starch that stiffens them, which I did, but they were still kind of stiff when they dried. I wasn't sure if that was normal, but let me tell you, a web search for "stiff fukin" does not return informative results. at least not for tea towel related info
