As the Times turns the blame for ‘sick note culture’ 🤨 from Gen-Z to obesity, I am here to remind everyone:
a) rates of sickness absence are a function not only of rates of sickness, but also how workplaces treat those workers (when they’re already sick, or in protecting/undermining their health)
b) you think that treatment is fair or random? Forget it. People on the shitty end of workplace power imbalances get fewer of the accommodations that allow them to safely work with illness/disability…
