I wish I was not on vacation so I could make the opposite case in the NYT proper, but a contested convention is a bad idea. The convention is extended advertisement for the party. The best possible way to use it is to tout Biden’s record, to portray him as a great statesman, and to showcase Harris. A contested convention would be a waste of an opportunity.
