Computers are terrible: take 999
The french corp-tax office keeps on rejecting the yearly balance-sheet declaration I'm doing through the brand new, fancy INPI web portal. The rejection error message is super elusive, "documents do not match declaration".
After 3 rejections, I called the office this morning. A super nice tax officier (it's not even ironic!) responded, and went with a "yeah, I know. There's no way for me to add more context about the rejection in the webapp.", she went into the details about what was wrong. She then proceeded to rant about this new idiotic computer system that rejects some demands on her behalf for minor issues that shouldn't be rejected. "It's a waste of time of everybody, me included".
She then concluded by: "You can still send us this in a paper form, and honestly, it's more convenient for me if you do so. With this process, if something's wrong with it I can just call you and we can figure that out together."
