Well there is something you could do actually. You could use another part of the fediverse that has those features, I can't say off hand but #firefish and #qoto have a lot of tools #mastodon refuses to add. So does #misskey and most of its offshoots.
But it isn't built in to the #fediverse so people can choose to opt out or in as they wish.
I don't think it's like js obfuscation. I think it's more like Usenet where the feature was never there. No one is blocking access to it.
