if i wanna draw soft surfaces being squished by a soft surface, then i need things to "sink" into each other for it to create that illusion
a lot of "lines of action" seem to come from "inaction" -- dynamic bends come from the fact that most people aren't gymnasts and aren't rigid and stiff against even their own body, and thus need to "rest" on something to create a feeling of "natural" and "dynamic" poses
a spear is powerful, but rigid
water is malleable, but soft
flesh is both rigid and soft, therefore ideal poses come from knowing what is rigid and what is soft, and letting either the body rest or energy flow properly by only flowing what's needed but resting everything else
