npub1z2qdmfzhs2uwg8kmsh37xavt2hq48gch63e787ggd3s6mt8waxgsxu3yuf (npub1z2q…3yuf) the cross check I would've handed you in my ASTR101 classes when I was still teaching: the moon subtends about 1/2 degree in the sky¹, it travels 360 degrees (=720 moon diameters) in 4 weeks, which is 180 moon diameters per week. A week has 168 hours, so the moon travels a little more than one moon diameter per hour.

¹ the moon is a little over 100 times (more like 110 times) as far as it's diameter, just like the sun, which is why both look the same size in the sky. A degree is a part in 57, so a part in ~110 is about 1/2 degree.
