I would if your family premium is high and no one in the family has a chronic condition that necessitates visits to their physician numerous times a year. Run the numbers.
Self pay is the way imo as long as you have catastrophic covered. For example my son ended up needing to go to the ER for a wrist xray this year. The $2700 bill we received magically became $300 when we said we didn’t have health insurance coverage.
